Back again

I have been offline for a while, at least in terms of this blog, for I have shifted my computers around and Windows Live was only on the computer I am no longer using. I had been using two computers, a desktop and a notebook, but this has proved too cumbersome, so now I am just using the notebook. That is a relief in some ways, although I still have the desktop for backup. It may prove that the desktop was an expensive mistake that seemed wise at the time (the notebook needed to go in for repairs). Just recently my PDA was being updated (it is an iPAQ so was cell phone and PDA) and the ROM update failed, so it is non-functional. I have all the data backed up, but the result is no addressbook or the like to carry around with me. Now I have to ask if and how I replace it. Oh, bother. Electronics are wonderful and problematic at the same time.

In terms of ministy I am still in limbo, for there are still a number of possibilities for the future, but none of them are certain as of the time of this writing.

All for now,
Peter

Future Possibiilities

With next year looking like SSU will be offering less in the way of work (although they pay me at adjunct rates and do not pay me for some courses, the pay Judy and I have received has been welcome), it was interesting to hear the Anglican rector announce this morning that he has resigned in order to move to another parish in another diocese. It seems to me that that offers me at least the possibility of interim work. I would consider putting my name forward as Peter Mills’ successor, assuming that I could work out an arrangement so that it fit well with my work at SSU. It would curb my travel, which might be very welcome, but it would also provide a stable place of ministry and a stable basis for being here. I have indeed written the Archdeacon to tell him that I am available for whatever he thinks me fit for. He has yet to respond, so we will see what comes of that. If it is a God thing, then something will come of it, and if not, I suppose I should be very happy. What is interesting to me is that Judy is happy with this development, for it supports what she wants to do rather than takes me away from home.

Does anyone need a wife?

On a recent trip to India I met a young Christian house group leader who is from a Hindu family. He request to my colleague and through her to me is to look for a husband for her. Her family will force her to marry a Hindu is we cannot find her a Christian husband. She is open to finding a husband from outside India (although that was not her primary request). Contact me if you wish more information.

You have to start somewhere

This is a start to blogging for Peter H. Davids. Right now I am teaching at St. Stephen’s University, and it is a very busy time of year, so I do not know how much I will be writing for a bit. Still, there is a lot to observe in the world. Here at the University we have just finished sex week, not that universities tend to lack discussion of sex, but this time rather than discussion taking place out of sight, we made sure that it took place in sight. There were positive presentations in chapel and men and women were invited to separate open discussions of such issues as our sexual stories, birth and body image, and sexual brokenness. It has been quite a week, for the students were often quite open and this gave us all a chance to share together. I think that it was very helpful in deepening community, especially for the women, who were more open to talking, but I think for the men as well.

All for now,
Peter
